Cognita Programs

Cognitia Programs are structured applications used to address the effects of incarceration at the individual and family level.  They are designed for two environments where the impact of incarceration is most present: the household and the institution.

These programs focus on what is happening in real time—within the home and prior to release—and apply consistent, guided support to address it.

Family Infrastructure

Family Infrastructure

Family Infrastructure

Family Infrastructure is a program for families raising or supporting children impacted by incarceration.  This includes households where:

  • a parent is incarcerated, recently released, or inconsistently present
  • grandparents, relatives, or non-family caregivers are raising children without clear support
  • children are showing signs of disruption, including suspension, expulsion, repeated removal from school, or withdrawal
  • expectations, roles, and daily functioning within the home are inconsistent

This program focuses on:

  • helping caregivers manage the day-to-day demands of the household
  • clarifying roles so responsibility is not carried by one person alone
  • supporting school engagement and reducing ongoing disruption
  • addressing conditions that increase the likelihood of continued system involvement for children

Family Infrastructure is used to interrupt patterns early and support households in maintaining consistency over time.

Cognitia inside

Family Infrastructure

Family Infrastructure

Cognitia Inside is a program used within correctional and institutional settings.  It is designed for individuals who are currently incarcerated.  This program focuses on:

  • preparing individuals for return to the community with a defined approach to daily life
  • establishing how decisions, time, and responsibilities will be handled after release
  • connecting what is addressed inside with what will be required outside
  • reducing repeated system involvement

As part of this process, each individual develops an Individual Life Plan.  The Individual Life Plan is a working plan built prior to release that organizes:

  • housing expectations
  • employment direction
  • daily responsibilities
  • support systems and points of contact

It is not a general plan or a set of goals.

It is used as a reference for how life will be managed after release and what must be followed to remain in the community.

Cognitia Inside ensures individuals are not returning without a defined plan in place.
